Standard mattresses are treated with flame retardant polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), which are hormone-disrupting chemicals that infiltrate our bodies. Standard cotton is often bleached with sodium hypochlorite and treated with dyes and color fixers that contain heavy metals. Polyurethane foam, which may also be treated with PBDEs, can cause respiratory problems and skin irritation, not to mention that foam will soon start sagging, will trap in heat when you sleep on it, and is a magnet for dust mites. We offer a natural latex rubber mattress covered in organic cotton and wool from Savvy Rest, and an innerspring mattress made with organic cotton and wool from Royal-Pedic. Both mattresses do not off-gas, contain no harmful chemicals, and use wool as a natural flame retardant. Unlike petrochemical-based foam, natural rubber stays cool while you sleep, won’t sag over time, and is naturally resistant to dust mites (great news for allergy sufferers).

We have two queen Savvy Rest mattresses – an all-Dunlop latex version and an all-Talalay latex version. Dunlop latex is firmer than Talalay, but each is available in firm, medium, and soft densities. One of the great features of a Savvy Rest mattress is its customization. There’s a zipper on the casing that allows access to the layers of latex rubber inside. Because of this, we can rearrange the mattress in dozens of configurations so that you and your partner can get the feel you’re both looking for. You don’t have to agree on the firmness level – one side can be cushy soft and the other medium-firm. We also have a queen pillowtop for you to test out, which makes the entire mattress feel soft and luxurious.
